The hard part of an org chart is not drawing boxes — it is keeping it readable once the organisation is real. Diagramium lays out the tree for you, so adding a person does not mean rearranging a slide by hand, and the solid and dotted lines stay visually distinct at every zoom level.
Solid lines, dotted lines, and why the difference matters
A solid line is the reporting relationship: one manager, the person who runs your review. A dotted line is everything else that is real but secondary — a matrix lead, a chapter head, a temporary project manager.
Keeping the two visually distinct is the whole job of the notation. A chart that draws both the same way says everyone has two bosses; a chart that omits the dotted lines says the matrix does not exist. Diagramium keeps the dotted style as notation — a document-wide line style will not overwrite it, because that would change what the chart says rather than how it looks.
Two more things worth putting on the chart: vacant roles, drawn as a box with no name, which is how a reader sees where hiring is happening; and team groupings, so a reader can find a function before finding a person.

How to make an org chart, start to export
Open the editor, drop a box for the most senior role, then drag from its port to create the person who reports to it. Repeat down the tree; the layout keeps itself tidy. Mark secondary relationships with a dotted connector, name the vacancies, and group the functions.
Export a PNG or SVG for a handbook, a PDF for print, or record the walkthrough as a video for people who were not in the room.
Org chart, swimlane, or RASCI matrix?
An org chart shows who reports to whom — structure at rest. If your question is who does which step of a process, draw a swimlane instead: one lane per role, and the arrows crossing lanes are the hand-offs. If it is who is accountable versus merely consulted on each task, that is a RASCI matrix.
The three answer different questions and are worth keeping separate. An org chart that tries to show process becomes unreadable at about thirty boxes.

Draw a second connector from the secondary manager and set its line style to dashed. Diagramium treats that dash as notation, so a document-wide arrow style will not flatten it back into a solid reporting line.
Can I import my org chart from a spreadsheet?
Not today — the org chart is built on the canvas. For a large organisation, build the top three levels and link out to per-team charts rather than putting several hundred people on one page.
How do I show a vacant role?
Add the box with the role title and leave the name empty. Vacancies drawn explicitly are how a reader sees where hiring is happening; omitting them makes the chart look complete when it is not.
What is the best way to share an org chart?
Export a PNG or SVG for a document, or publish it and embed the player in an intranet page so the chart introduces itself. An SVG stays sharp at any size, which matters when someone prints the org chart at A3.
